Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal 2019
Operation Christmas Child is arranged by a non-profit organisation called
Samaritans Purse, who meet the physical needs of victims of war, famine,
natural disasters, poverty and disease. Their mission is to demonstrate
God's love in a tangible way to needy people around the world. The aid
and assistance are given without regard to the race, creed, gender, religion
or ethnicity of the people that receive their help. Over the years Samaritans
Purse have assisted in many disasters such as the South Asian Tsunami,
the Pakistan Earthquake, the Syrian refugee crisis and the earthquake
Operation Christmas Child 2019 Shoebox Appeal
This year from St Augustine's we finished with 243 shoeboxes so well done
to all who took part, as this is a great result and 22 more than last
year. Included in the total were 67 boxes that were built on behalf of
all the people that made donations which totalled £860 so thank
you again for your generosity. The boxes from the South East have been
sent to Liberia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and Albania and early in the
new year I will be able to let you know the final UK and Worldwide totals.
On behalf of the children who will soon be receiving their Christmas shoeboxes
I say a massive thank you and please remember them in your prayers.
I wish you all a very happy and holy Christmas, Andrew.
We often underestimate the impact of such a gift but again and again Samaritans
Purse are meeting adults who received boxes as children and they are still
overcome with emotion and thankfulness. They often remember every item
in their box, will talk about it being a moment of light in the darkness
of their world and always encourage us to try and send more boxes. So
we look forward again to taking part in the 2020 appeal and once again
thank you to everyone who took part.
