The parish of St. Thomas of Canterbury in Rainham has an active branch (or Conference) of this worldwide Christian voluntary organisation. The main aims of the Society are to provide practical help and support to anyone in the community whatever their religion or beliefs. The SVP will respond to direct requests for help from individuals or families and to referrals from third parties as long as the referral has been made with the client’s permission.
They will visit people in their own homes, care homes, hospital and even in prison if necessary. They can provide limited material assistance with transport, food, clothing and help with gardening and shopping.
All the work is done on a confidential basis and all members have been vetted and cleared to work with vulnerable people.
If you know of anyone in the area who could benefit from the Society or if you feel you could help us in our work please contact:
